The “half-chest” or “across-chest” measurement is reference to the width of the t-shirts, not the body.
The t-shirt is then measured across the front, side-seam to side-seam, from just a few centimetres below where the sleeve joins the body of the t-shirt.
A t-shirt with a half or across-chest measurement of 50cm would be skin-tight on a person with a 100cm chest. Therefore, the half or across-chest measurement – when doubled – should be a few centimetres more than the person’s actual chest measurement (depending on desired fit and t-shirt stretch).
Finding your size from the “half-chest” or “across-chest” measurement:
- Take a favourite-fitting t-shirt, lay it flat, and measure across the front as described above (2cm below the armpit).
- Match this measurement to the “half-chest” or “across-chest” measurement for the garment you’re interested in.
- For cotton-rich and 100% cotton garments that are not pre-shrunk, allow 5-7% extra in the width and length for future shrinkage – NB

Printing and T-shirt Care:
All Hyena Tees are pure cotton items, sourced from local suppliers. The best results for washing your tee will come from a cold machine wash. (no warm water at all)
Hyena Tees are not pre-shrunk. Most cotton when washed for the first time may shrink up to 5% to 7%. This tendency for cotton fibers to shorten when first washed should be taken into account, especially if you are measuring your pre-existing shirts. The best way to minimise standard cotton shrinkage is to hand wash your t-shirt for the first wash, and then allow it to dry on a flat surface.
Do not iron directly on the print, if you need to iron your Hyena Tee, iron on the reverse side only. Do not use bleach on your Hyena Tee. Under no circumstances should you tumble dry your Hyena Tee.

Our cotton is currently 100% South African. We do, however, source from our neighboring countries from time to time. Our 100% cotton yarn is subjected to stringent tests to ensure the highest quality open-end yarn. Our select fabrics are knitted in body size tubular form allowing for seamless-side products.”
Hyena Tees will only print T-shirts once they have been ordered from our website.
Once you place and pay for an order, we will schedule your printing on the first upcoming print run. Print lead times are approximately 5-7 working days. This is the time it takes for our printing partner to queue the design and print it at their factory. Once printed, Hyena Tees will ship your order within a further 1-2 working days.
At Hyena Tees we strive to provide you with only excellent quality products and if we mess up we’ll be the first to raise our hands and sort you out.
Each and every item leaving Hyena Tees is individually made from scratch, so basically you are receiving a custom made item. We don’t keep any pre-printed stock.
When can I return a product?
If you’re not happy with your product for any reason whatsoever, you may have it exchanged for any other product of similar value. If we’ve messed up, we’ll arrange with the couriers to collect the goods from you provided it’s from the same address we delivered to. If you’re just changing your mind then the return postage is on you, we think that’s fair.
All items are made to order so, unfortunately all refunds will be given in the form of store credit / vouchers.
Unfortunately we cannot refund any delivery fees since the parcel has already made its way to your door.
All Hyena Tee t-shirts that you want to exchange due to a manufacturing fault, sizing issues or any other reason, should be unwashed, unworn (except for fitting it on) , and in its original packaging if you would like to return it.
What do I do if I’m not happy with my purchase?
We pride ourselves on providing a high quality product and excellent customer service. You can contact us at email@example.com. From there, we’ll help you with your return or questions. Should an item you order be too big or small, you can return it to the below address. Once the item has been received and checked on our side, and if it needs to be reprinted we will do so. Delivery times will be based on shipping timeline above.
If you’re returning a product, please write an email that includes:
1. The order number or Email address used during the purchase
2. The approximate date when you made the purchase
3. If it’s a size related problem, please tell us which size it should be
4. If you’re just changing your mind and would like a different shirt, please specify which shirt you want and the size.
